CS Ed week is here and we’ve got a great activity idea for the Hour of Code!

We’ve created a fun “sampler” site called CyberStart Go ( https://go.girlsgocyberstart.org/) with a mix of puzzles that will challenge your students’ logical thinking skills and expand their view of computer science. There are 12 fun, interactive puzzles from cryptography to web vulnerability to coding. Perfect for the Hour of Code, CyberStart Go is easy to implement as it requires no registration, does not ask for student information and has a pre-set timer of 60 minutes for each round of play.

CyberStart Go is completely browser based so all that’s needed is Internet access and some computers or Chromebooks. Play singly or in teams, keep score or just play for fun — any way you setup your Hour of Code, the students will learn something new about the cybersecurity side of computer science.

CyberStart Go is a great recruiting tool for Girls Go CyberStart because the puzzles give a preview of the types of fun challenges you will see in GGCS Assess and Game stages. There are hints included for a bit of on-the-spot learning and so no one gets stuck, which also makes CyberStart Go a good introductory practice resource for your club.

We’d love to hear how you use CyberStart Go so comment with your ideas or post on social with some pics. 😃
