This year, hundreds of girls approached us desperate to take part in Girls Go CyberStart but told us they couldn’t find an adult to run a Club for them to join.
Our mission for Girls Go CyberStart has always been to create a platform where every girl who enjoys creative thinking, problem-solving, and reading between the lines can explore cybersecurity in a safe, barrier-free environment.
So, when we heard that there were girls out there who weren’t able to join as their school wasn’t taking part — we knew we had to do something about it!
While we firmly believe that having the support of a Club during the program is invaluable, we don’t want to limit anyone’s opportunities.
So, we’ve made the decision to allow students to take part in the program, even if their school isn’t. Alongside this, we’ve extended the timeframe for the first stage of the program, CyberStart Assess, so everyone who’s recently been able to join has the same chance to succeed.
We’re really excited about these changes as it means that thousands more young women have the opportunity to uncover their talent for cybersecurity!
This is also great news for those schools who have already created their Clubs and started playing as it means you’ve got more time to play CyberStart Assess and two chances to qualify for CyberStart Game.
New CyberStart Assess and CyberStart Game Dates
Whether you’re playing as part of a Club or as an individual, CyberStart Assess is now open until Friday February 14! Plus, you’ll have two chances to qualify for CyberStart Game.
The first intake:
- Complete 5 or more challenges before Friday 7 February to be able to start playing CyberStart Game on Monday 10 February.
The second intake:
- Complete 5 or more challenges before Friday 14 February to be able to start playing CyberStart Game on Monday 17 February.
