Another day, another workshop organised by GirlScript Bangalore! To help folks grow in the tech industry, we were back on November 2nd at RNS Institute of Technology, with sessions on Git and Python. The workshop was attended by over 120 enthusiastic participants split across two slots (we didn’t want people to get lost in a crowd). Ms Sayantika Banik, Backend Engineer at Continual Engine and Mr Srushith R, Head of Engineering and Co-Founder at KonfHub guided the participants on their journey in the world of Git and Python.

Focus, hard work, and a few smiles (that’s the learning pathway)

Version control is the bedrock of code maintenance and an integral part of the software development lifecycle. Git, the technology which powers version control, is an important tool in any software engineer’s arsenal. From helping you clear interviews to assisting you in day to day work, Git skills come handy in various situations.

The first part of the workshop focused on a hands-on introduction to Git. Sayantika spoke about her own experience with git and open source development and then turned the participants into Git amateurs as they got their hands dirty to polish their skills.

Python can be used to make everything from games to gauges. Python practitioners gain an edge in the industry since it can be used to create powerful software for an eclectic array of fields and use-cases.

The participants went from Python newbies to pros in the second session of the workshop as Srushith guided them on how to charm Python (using PyCharm ;) ).

With sessions on essential topics and excellent guidance by the speakers, the participants left with big smiles and bigger dreams of a brighter career in the tech industry.

We, at GirlScript Bangalore, thoroughly enjoyed the response and learnt a thing or two ourselves!

Did you miss the workshop? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back. Here are the links to the presentations and some resources to keep you busy over the weekend-
