The internet as we know it is an amazing and not so amazing place to be, not so amazing such as strangers having access to judge and denigrate someone. But I like to believe the amazing part of it is what gives us hope.

Here we can also see how different people view the topic, such as “ not all men”. The existence of different views leads to various opinions, which works both ways good and bad.

Infact , Feminism on social media has taught me more than school ever did. It creates a positive environment, seeing women post pictures of themselves and other complete strangers enthusiastically appreciating ,the sight of women supporting women is just clearly wholesome and kind.

There are memes which point out toxic masculinity- “ boys don’t cry” ,” man up “or the patriarchy which is embedded in us so much that we fail to recognize .

It gives us the “ shit, I did not recognize! ”moment, and the more you learn about misogyny the more you see it in everyday life.

Many people here break gender norms ( a video of a man in saree whilst singing is exceptionally amazing ) , they talk about the discrimination people face and take various efforts on educating people about the same.

Topics such as sex, mental health etc. which were highly stigmatized are now spoken openly , we see people who put their pronouns on bio , this creates environment of inclusivity and avoids misgendering.

Hashtags are evolving into movements which create change, #Metoo is one such movement.

This community also speaks about body positivity and “normalizes normal bodies” , it shows that one doesn’t have to be in a certain shape to fit into the societal definition of normal or beautiful. It helps us in accepting a person just as they are.

Talking about feminism on social media also creates a boundary on what’s right and what’s wrong, at the same time gives us a chance to correct , improve ourselves.

The internet feminist community gives a safe space to share experiences, Overall we can see this community trying to help, educate, destigmatize various topics. This community is kind , supportive and gives one the sense of belonging. As a woman one can indeed feel happy, proud ,safe of the community the internet has brought together.
