If you are thinking about starting a program at Gitgirl or you’re currently enrolled in any of our programs then this article is definitely for you. You might have wondered how to juggle between learning at Gitgirl and working at your regular 9–5 job, running your business or studying in school if you are an undergraduate.

We totally understand that sometimes handling two or more things can be a struggle and at Gitgirl, we are always ready to give you all the support you need because we want you to succeed.

Now, let’s hydro-power the horse. Here are 5 Tips To Study Better At Gitgirl.

1. Be Patient: If the course you have signed up for is not something you have studied before, or if you have not taken an online class for some time, be patient with yourself. Online learning is a diverse form of gaining knowledge that may take some time getting used to. Take the time to become familiar with this type of instruction by re-watching videos or stepping away for a little while if you become confused about a topic. Remember, this is YOUR education, the only person you have to answer to is yourself, so be patient and take the time to learn.

2. Study Daily: Gitgirl program is composed of sections that consist of units and each unit is comprised of a series of short videos. Having this in mind, make a realistic agenda that allows you to chip away at the video nuggets and gives you enough time to complete the projects. Choose a time slot each day, at least 1 hour 30 mins a day for your course. Gitgirl classes are similar to physical classes, make your Gitgirl course part of your daily to do.

3. Take Notes: It will be helpful for you to take note of examples and ideas that you like or found challenging. During your learning process don’t forget “you always remember what is written down” also it’s just as important to note what you don’t know or understand as well. While you watch the videos, write down helpful hints and tips from the instructor or key points from the lecture. Additionally, if you think your notes would be beneficial to others, you can contribute to Gitgirl Note.

4. Make Friends and Socialize: There are actually quite a large number of students taking courses at Gitgirl right now and this could be of good support to you. Get on the general channel and socialize. Gitgirl students are always willing to help and share their knowledge. If you have a trick or a hint that helps you understand something, share it on the general channel, your fellow students will appreciate the tips!

5. Use Recommended materials and participate in other extracurricular activities (Tuesday Insight, Thursday Tease and Webinars): Each course includes recommended materials that are meant to be used alongside the course videos. Additionally, Tuesday and Thursday tease are good ways to help you understand your program. Our weekend webinar is also helpful because our instructors explain and elaborate on the topic you find difficult to understand.
