Gaining Experience in a Fast-Paced Design Team at GITS Indonesia
GITS Indonesia, a technology company that prioritizes the development of digital and enterprise solutions, is known for its dynamic work culture. Its fast-paced environment encourages employees to innovate and adapt quickly. One of its behind-the-scenes innovations is a Design Team consisting of UX Designers, UI Designers, and Graphic Designers.
I had the opportunity to join as a UI/UX Designer in the GITS Indonesia Design Team known as GITS Creative. Working in a small team in this fast-paced environment presents a variety of challenges, but also opens up opportunities for rapid learning and growth.
My Journey as a Designer at GITS Indonesia
A little background about me, I have been working at GITS Indonesia for 6 years. Initially, I joined the company as a Front-End Developer, but due to a lack of passion in that field, I decided to move to the design division.
So, in total, I have been a designer at GITS Indonesia for 5 years. The experience of working in the design team at GITS Indonesia has given me many valuable lessons. I learned how to work effectively and efficiently, communicate well, and solve problems creatively. In addition, I also learned the importance of teamwork and support among coworkers.
About GITS Creative
Originally, at GITS Creative, the UI/UX Designer roles were combined, but in 2021, the roles were split into UX Designer and UI Designer to improve time efficiency. Currently, the team consists of 7 members, consisting of 3 UX Designers, 2 UI Designers, and 1 Graphic Designer. We have the responsibility of designing intuitive and engaging user interfaces, as well as ensuring design consistency in all client projects.
Facing Challenges in a Fast-Paced Work Environment
One of the main challenges in a fast-paced environment is time pressure. We are often faced with tight schedules and sudden changes in project demands, which demand flexibility and responsiveness. Some of the challenges that we often go through are:
- Strict Deadlines: The very strict design timeline when the project starts makes no time to relax.
- Rapid Changes in Project Needs: Sometimes, the direction of the project can change drastically. The ability to adapt quickly is the key.
- Pressure to Produce High Quality in a Short Time: Quality should never be sacrificed for speed. Finding a balance between the two is an art of its own.
Strategies to address the above challenges are:
- Effective Time Management and Priority: Carefully plan each step and prioritize tasks according to their urgency and impact on the project.
- Effective team collaboration: Clear and open communication, as well as solid collaboration, are key to overcoming challenges together.

Despite the pressure, there are opportunities to learn and grow. The benefits and learnings from a fast-paced work environment are:

In conclusion, my experience as a UI/UX Designer in the fast-paced Design Team at GITS Indonesia has been challenging and rewarding. Over 5 years, I have honed my skills, learned the importance of effective communication and teamwork, and adapted quickly to change. Despite facing tight deadlines and changing project demands, strategies such as effective time management, collaboration, and quick adaptation have helped navigate these challenges.
In addition, this environment has encouraged the development of better time management skills, adaptability, and a broad knowledge of the industry and technology. Working at GITS Creative has not only encouraged me to grow professionally but has also given me valuable experience that will continue to benefit my career journey.
