Song for the Awaken

“The Awakening” by Autumn Skye Morrison

Turn down the lullabies
See how she’s spinning through the dance floor
Her white dress quickly following the sweeps
A feather would be more aggressive than her steps

She’s awake and moving as a gentle rain
Secretly heavy with waves of thunders
And the electricity you get after a long sleep

She’s exhausted of so much rest
Life running through her veins rambunctiously
Her heart pounding and trying to understand the rhythm
As a newborn chest

There’s a trail of light where she goes
And a new song, an awakening-by she sings
To every sleeping child of the world
And one by one, we open our eyes again.
