Future2 Foundation: Great Aussie Charities You’ve Never Heard Of…
This week Givebot spoke to Future2 Foundation, an inspiring group of skilled financial advisers existing to make a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it the most. Through grants to community not-for-profits and charities, the Future2 Foundation supports young Australians who are financially and socially disadvantaged, helping them to create productive, fulfilling lives in the community.
Where did it all begin?
Future2 was the initiative of a small group of members of the Financial Planning Association, the peak professional body for financial planners in Australia. Their passion and commitment was instrumental in getting the Foundation off the ground. Future2 was established in 2007.
How do you help the grant recipients?
Pegasus Riding for the Disabled (ACT) was recently awarded a Future2 grant through their Pegasus Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) Program, that is significantly changing the lives of disabled young Australians for the better. Pegasus provides more than 2000 riding sessions each year to over 100 people living with a disability, operating on 100 acres in Holt (Canberra’s fringe).
The Pegasus instructors work alongside more than 200 dedicated, trained volunteers, who provide physical assistance and encouragement for participants during rides to those who require support. The EFL program has been designed specifically for participants with a disability who may suffer from social anxiety, low self-esteem, poor self-confidence and issues with interpersonal relations and / or working with others. This in turn helps to reduce their risk of experiencing social isolation and enables them to live a more fulfilled and productive life in the wider community.
What do you do with your donations?
Each year Future2 gives back to not for profits and charities. At the end of 2017, Future2 has given $823,000 across Australia through its annual grants process.
