Feature Updates: June 11, 2019

About This Release

Hey there GiveGrove users! We are excited to announce another round of updates to the platform. This release includes feature updates to the following sections of GiveGrove:

• Live Auction
• Big Boards
• Event Settings
• General Admin and “Quality of Life” Updates

Live Auction

The biggest changes in this release can be seen in the Live Auction module.

Bidder Numbers

Bidder numbers are now visible to admins when they visit the live auction module for an event. Admins can view the numbers as they correspond to donors, add offline bidders, and change the number assigned to a bidder to the next available bidder number (numerically).

Charge Requests

Starting with this release, GiveGrove will send donors charge requests via text message before charging them for their purchase. This means that donors will now confirm their purchase before GiveGrove accepts the charge. This helps donors, organizations, and GiveGrove on a few fronts:

1. When a donor receives the confirmation text for their purchase, they will be asked if they would like to cover the credit card processing fees for the items they have purchased in the live auction. Previously, donors did not have this option.
2. By needing to confirm GiveGrove’s charge request, the donor cuts down on potentially unwanted charges if there is an error during the auction and their paddle is called incorrectly.
3. Organizations will issue fewer refunds for live auction items because donors will confirm their purchases.

Charge Request Status

Due to the added feature of charge requests, we have added a way for admins to view the charge request status in the live auction section of the admin dashboard.

Admins will be able to see the donor, the item, the amount, and the status of charge request. Donor contact info is also linked to each charge request for easy follow up if needed.

Big Boards

We have also added some new tools to the big boards page. Admins will now have the ability to change the background color, font color, font size, and font weight of their big boards.

Event Settings

Event End Time

Having an end time for your event is no longer a requirement when creating or editing events.

Separate Event URL and Event Names

When creating an event, admins now have the capability to make the URL for the event different from the name of the event. This will help organizations by allowing them to create shorter URLs for events while keeping the full name of the event.

There are now separate fields for URLs and event names when creating an event.

General Admin and “Quality of Life” Updates

Event Profile Picture

In the earliest versions of GiveGrove, admins were able to give each event its own event profile picture. In one of our updates this year, we temporarily removed that ability in favor of using the organization profile picture. However, we realized that some events might need profile pictures that are different from the organization profile picture, so we re-enabled the ability to add event profile pictures back into GiveGrove.

Comped Tickets Show in Reports

Ticket purchases that are comped by admins will now show in downloaded reports.

Admins Don’t Need Credit Cards

In previous versions of GiveGrove, admins needed a credit card connected to their profile in order to comp tickets or run reports. This is no longer the case.

Toggle Votes Between Dollars Raised and Number of Votes

Admins now have the ability to toggle votes between dollars raised and number of votes through the admin voting page.

The “votes or dollars” toggle switch is located in the top right of the voting module settings.

Sortable Tables

Admins now have the ability to sort tables on the various admin modules. This should help with speedier checkouts at events and faster comprehension of data.

Image Compression

Instances of image compression issues on smaller item images are now fixed.

Refund Confirmation Emails

When donors are refunded they now receive an email letting them know that a refund has been issued.
