At GIVE, we have stuck fervently to our goal to encourage people to do good as much as they can, to create a culture and lifestyle of giving. Although we are a fundraising platform, we believe that social good is not limited in its expression to money, which is why we have worked with social enterprise Jaga-Me (https://www.jaga-me.com) to help the elderly in need of healthcare services (http://outreach.jaga-me.com/GiveJaga).

As of 2015, elderlies aged 65 and above who live alone have swelled to over 42,000. In addition, a local study finds an association between loneliness and a higher mortality risk among the elderly. Many of them struggle with basic necessities such as mobility, medication, and personal care and, as a result, go unnoticed. Recognizing this as an emerging issue, Jaga-Me is the bridge to connect home care services to these elderly people. With a team of healthcare professionals, caregivers who face a challenge trying to get medical services on time may have their problems solved.

With the aim of reaching out to seniors in need, GIVE and Jaga-Me are collaborating to make homecare more visible and actionable in Singapore. A crowdfunding campaign will be run before fully subsidized quality healthcare services from Jaga-Me is provided. The proportion of seniors in Singapore who need healthcare services but cannot is one that warrants ongoing attention. This collaboration will encourage and raise societal awareness and generate momentum on this issue among the generous and kind community on the GIVE platform. In addition, GIVE will successfully raise visibility on the issue of homecare and the aging population to other Singaporeans and Asians.

We are glad to provide access and raise awareness to one of the emerging societal issues that will be one of the defining issues on our radar in a few years. For those who want to get the ball rolling, the link for you to begin is here: http://outreach.jaga-me.com/GiveJaga. Please leave us a note in the ‘Comments’ section about your ideal vision for home care for the elderly that you hope to see in future. We’d like to know!

Even if you don’t need the healthcare services for yourself, you can still do your part and contribute to our cause. We need your help to keep a lookout for elderlies who may be in need of healthcare services! You may apply on their behalf at the same page and do your part towards our national vision of helping our elderly age comfortably at home in the community!
