Samsung has finally launched the much awaited S8 and S8 Plus smartphones after months of rumors and leaks.
Samsung S8 and S8 Plus are the new flagship devices from Samsung and are successors to S7 and S7 edge.
Samsung has brought in a number of new features with this years flagship, all of it aimed at improving customer experience and setting a new benchmark.
Here’s What’s New :
- Infinity Display — S8 and S8 Plus come with bezel less display on the sides which makes the phone less cluttered and at the same time improves upon the viewing area of the user.
- Bixby AI — Samsung has integrated its in-house artificial intelligence programme, Bixby into the S8 lineup, it is smart, efficient and right there when you need it. It can not only carry out day-to-day task but is constantly adapting to its users needs. Just swipe right on the home or lock screen and Bixby is there at your command.
- Best in Class Processor — It comes with the newest and fastest processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 835 Processor with better multi tasking capabilities and enhanced network speeds.
- Improved Security — Samsung has taken user data security to a whole new level, it has added the capability to unlock the phone using Iris Scanner and Facial Recognition.
Moreover, one does not have to wake up the phone to use finger print sensor anymore. Finger Print Sensor is located on the back on the S8 and unlocks the phone with a single touch on it.
- Integrated Home Button — The home button is now integrated into the glass and is right there where it used it to be, and works with a single tap.
- Updated UI — Running on Android 7 Nougat it also has an updated UI to complement it, with new icons for default apps. For the first time, Samsung has removed the apps icon from home screen , which means now one can set five favourite apps that will be visible on all the home screens, plus all you need to do is swipe up to open up the app drawer.
- Connectivity — It comes with Gigabit LTE and Gigabit Wi-Fi, offering greater download speeds.
- Earphones — Galaxy S8 comes bundled with earphones made by AKG, which offer better sound and are easier to fit and stay comfortable.
- USB Type — C — It comes with USB Type C, which offers better transfer and charging speeds. Moreover, with USB Type C, there is no up or down, plug it in the way you want.
So, this is what’s new on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, and it sounds amazing at first. Our only doubts are on Samsung AI — Bixby, as to how well will it perform.
The screen size is massive at 5.8 and 6.2 inches and Samsung claims that it fits easily in one’s hands, but we have our reservations on it and would have liked the screen to be somewhere around 5.5 inches. Smaller screen size not only makes the phone easier to use but also reduces the battery consumption. In our opinion, coupled with infinity display, smaller screen size would have been great but that is not the way Samsung thinks.
