Summer Driving Fast,” the title alone evokes blissful images: driving on a road — preferably in a convertible — through lush, blooming landscapes, a sweet smell in your nose. The glittering synth-pop production adds a sonic ambiance. Let London artist tenderhooks get you in the mood for the warmer season with her new song.

The Berlin via Edinburgh artist Ailsa McEwan, aka Ailsa and the Seahorses, keeps up the bright vibes. Her new song “Hermit” reflects on the tarot card as the symbol for a special time in her life. “ I definitely felt like I had been on some kind of wild introspective journey for a while, like many people in the second half of their 20’s probably,” she says.

ROSIN did the journey the other way around: raised in Berlin, she moved to London to boost her career. Say something about the green grass on the other side. In her new track “Intention,” she falls in love, only to realize that the other person does not have the same feelings for her. She explains it is a bittersweet song: “Although some people might see it as a sad song, as it is about a love that is not reciprocated, I hope that the listener also recognises the beauty of having feelings for someone and how it makes you feel inspired.”

Double Wish are from Northern California and hence make “dark sunshine pop.” The duo goes all out on motivation with their new song “Papers,” a bright, mellow piece of West Coast pop. “ It’s about overcoming failure with courage and humility — hitting rock bottom but bouncing back,” singer Adam Sabolick says.

The Italian musician Giungla played at The New Colossus Festival in 2022, so we could already hear some of her new material. Now, she has announced her debut full-length album Distractions for this fall. The single, “Limited Edition,” shows her irresistible combination of distorted guitars, electronics, and soft, intimate vocals. The song is about “the never ending journey of trying to embrace your imperfections (and also all kinds of imperfections in life, in relationships, in what you do etc.), but without taking yourself too seriously.”

Katherine Perkins from Maine aims high with her new song “Sea Change.” The song is “part meditation, part prayer, part dance party, dreaming of a better America,” says the press release. The lively jazz production also makes it a joy to listen to.

I am a big fan of the Beirut-based band Sandmoon around singer and songwriter Sandra Arslanian, who has released three albums so far. Their new song “Confessions” is a shimmering synth-pop piece “about the feeling of release as one frees him/herself from the shackles of past secrets.” Sandra also makes beautiful short-film-like videos for her songs, so check back next week.
