New York singer Amber Mark’s “Monsoon” is a track that goes to several places in its roughly five minutes: it is a ballad, written for Amber’s late mother Mia, but then she adds a fresh, almost hopeful beat before the song ends with German sound bites by Mia. Listen to our Song Pick of Monday.

“Vacancy Routine” is one of these alluring indie rock gems that impress with an interesting mix of mostly minor keys with sprinkles of majors, infectious chiming guitars and vocal hooks. “Vacancy Routine”, is the debut single by Melbourne duo Paper City People. Initially, Paper City People begun as a studio project between Boyd Kelly and Christopher Tass Parker, sharing a romantic affection for guitars, with the desire to bring clarity to enigmatic dance music. One thing led to another and so they now create fully fledged indie pop rock with catchy dance beats. On “Vacancy Routine” Paper City People sonically express the desire for acceptance, whilst lyrically stressing the importance of living independently. Listen to “Vacancy Routine”, our Song Pick of Tuesday and Exclusive glamglare Premiere now.

Aiym Almas is a musician from Los Angeles via Kazakhstan and her latest single “You Must Be True” is a big goosebumps-inducing rock anthem with powerful vocals. “I want to find you / you must be true” she encourages herself as the subject of her search remains elusive. A beautiful song and there are probably more on her upcoming EP “Till Dawn”.

More than two years ago, I was super excited about the sisters Georgie and Annabel of Hockeysmith. With their dark blend of guitars and electronics seemed to be destined for greatness, but then, after a three track EP they fell into silence and I was wondering if they haves moved on from making music. Fortunately, they haven’t: a new single “Let’s Dagger” is out and is at least as good as their previous work and this time, I want to have entire album, please.

We are thrilled to exclusively premiere Quinn Lewis‘ irresistible new single “Rooftop”, which combines all the necessary sonic flavors to become one of Summer 2016’s big hits! The song ranges from moody to optimistic… yet let’s for a moment focus on the man behind this striking track: Quinn Lewis is an Aussie electro-pop artist out of Nashville, TN who has been making music for quite a while.

The alluringly understated instrumentation on “Rooftop” gives Quinn Lewis’ charming vocals enough room to fully shine. There is a driving dance beat, perfectly fit for the dance floor or to keep any party going. Yet there is also an element of suspense to the track, when the guitar hauntingly chimes the melody until Quinn Lewis’ smooth and powerful vocals take over again: “..and I’m trapped up on the rooftop, looking for a way out“.

This song will certainly linger longer with us than these emotion-packed Summer days. When we are all bundled up again, we will remember these “Rooftop” days, and hum along our Song Pick of Friday.

“Birthday Blues” by Leeds alt-rockers Team Picture is in the mold of some of the finest indie rock songs that got released by UK bands this year. Fuzzy guitars, psychedelic vibes, relentless beats, throbbing bass lines, lo-fi vocals… this all makes for one super cool debut single. The shimmering guitar crescendo in the six minutes track is the cherry on the cake. “Birthday Blues” is the kind of sound I can never get enough of and have already added it to glamglare’s “Gimme Fuzzy Psych Rock” playlist. Team Picture will release several other tracks throughout the next few months and it will be interesting to hear what comes up next! For now, listen to “Birthday Blues”, our Song Pick of Saturday.

Bay Area artist Lily Elise sings about a relationship that goes nowhere and she hopes she can end it without being hurt too much. Is it possible? The way the song ends suggests that she does not believe so. Our Song Pick of Sunday, “Let Me Down” is a smooth, elegant pop song she recorded together with Made in LA.
