English singer/songwriter Cape Cub aka Chad Male drops one single per month until the release of his second EP “6AM” due October 21st. Today, it is the single “Lifeline” and it is another instantly alluring piece of music. “Lifeline” is a bit like walking through a tunnel, with dark spots but the end and the light clearly in sight. There’s some gravity in the track but a lot of optimism and hope as well, and the powerful vocals and the overall upbeat vibe clearly demonstrate that.

“Sit and Stare” aptly summarizes the new EP “Awake” by Julie Jay, who records as Tiny Dinosaurs: it has a reflective feel to it, with an undercurrent of melancholy beneath the bright synth and guitar lines. Julie, who emerged from a long illness, is based in L.A. and found remarkable collaborators for this effort, such as Peter Silberman of the Antlers who is featured on the first single. “Awake” will be out on October 21 and will be followed by a second part.

The waiting has an end! Following their superb debut EP “Once the Lights Are On” released early this year, Danish electro-pop trio CHINAH follow-up the high expectations with the glorious “Can’t Remember How It Feels”. The new single sports an effortlessly laid-back vibe, shimmering synths-lines and bright vocals put to mesmerizing effect.

Norwegian four-piece Sløtface changed their name a few months ago (to a less offensive, more Scandinavian spelling) and are about to release their second EP “Empire Records” for this year. “I need Bright Lights shining into my eyes, taking me away from the edge of the stage”, sings Haley Shea against thick, melodic guitar layers, in search for a moment of escape from her daily life. “Bright Lights” is our Song Pick of the Thursday.

Sparse instrumentation with pulsating drums, bright guitar lines, dark bass rhythm and on top of it these clear and soothing vocals that draw you right in, further and further into “Naked Psychopathic Blues”, the track intensifying for the chorus and then some. Despite the serious lyrical content, the musical vibe of the song is hopeful and alluring and I would love to walk through a colorful autumn forest while listening to “Naked Psychopathic Blues”. The more I am excited to be able to premiere this glorious track today.

“Naked Psychopathic Blues” marks the first single from Lewis Fieldhouse’s upcoming full-length debut album titled “Theodor Washington and the Central Valley” in which he takes on the persona of a fictive Theodor Washington. As the album’s title suggests, the songs draw from the singer/songwriter’s experiences traveling California’s Central Valley. In “Naked Psychopathic Blues” the lyrical content is about difficult personalities and their even more complicated relationships, which becomes evident when Lewis Fieldhouse sings “She said I loved you in the worst kind of way, with a hunter’s pride she thinks you’re my trophy wife”.

Votaries is the new project of Jackson Scott who took the music world by storm with his debut album “Melbourne” and the critically acclaimed follow-up “Sunshine Redux”. He now gathered three fellow musicians and together they make music as Votaries. Listening to their first single “Succumb”, I’d say they mellowed Jackson Scott’s blend of noise, punk, shoegaze and fuzz rock a bit, and smoothed it to something maybe easier accessible without losing his music’s grittiness. “Succumb” comes with thick guitar layers and solid guitar melodies on top and Jackson Scott’s unique vocals holding it all together. If the single is any indication, the album should be stunning too!

London-based singer/songwriter Laurel does everything herself, writing, performing, producing and mixing. You wouldn’t guess this from her latest song “Hurricane”, a rich and powerful but still intimate rock song. And then there are Laurel’s unique dark and breathy vocals that can give you the chills. Her debut EP “Park” is expected for November 18.

What’s your take? If you enjoyed the music, press the little heart please. Thanks, and lots of love from Brooklyn!
