Published in conjunction with the Public Works: Artists’ Interventions 1970s–Now exhibition at Mills College Art Museum in 2015, the essays examine strategies of public practice by women artists from the 1970s to the present.
Through photography, prints, audio, video, and installations from a number of important historical and contemporary projects these women artists explore the politics and social conditions inherent to creating art in public space.
