Chicago has long been home to creatives and innovators. There’s an abundance of product development jobs — product management, design, and engineering — in advertising, consulting, healthcare, insurance, and other long-standing industries, in many thanks to local success stories like Groupon and Grubhub. Silicon Valley tech companies are starting to take notice, and Glassdoor is leading the charge by investing in product teams here in Chicago.
“Chicago is an important growth city for Glassdoor,” said Glassdoor President & Chief Operating Officer Christian Sutherland-Wong. “In less than three years, this office has grown into one of Glassdoor’s largest employee centers, in large part due to the city’s incredible talent pool. We look forward to building a stellar product and engineering group here.”
I am invigorated by Glassdoor’s investment in our city’s incredible talent pool, and excited to be helping build out the product design team here. As the first product designer in Chicago, I am helping to define the working relationships within and across the product teams, as well as establishing our user-centered design and qualitative research practices. In my first month I’ve helped lead a design sprint, conducted guerilla usability testing with my product management partners, and shipped my first major product feature.
There’s a lot of work to be done. Our Chicago-based teams will be supporting our B2B customers who use Glassdoor to advertise jobs and promote their company. Our cross-functional teams own their product roadmaps from discovery to delivery and sit side by side in our stellar Fulton Market office.
We are excited about the team we’re building in Chicago and know it will set a great example for other companies to follow. Come join us — we’re hiring in product, design, and engineering — as we help people everywhere find a job and company they love!
