Actions have unintended consequences

How was I to know? Exactly how was I to know?

It all started innocently enough. The donut might have been a little stale I suppose. Maybe a day old or something. Anyway, it wasn’t soft like a donut’s supposed to be, ya know? So I dunked it in my coffee. Yeah, I did it.

But I never expected there to be such fallout — such ramifications. How could I possibly have known that? It’s not fair to put the weight of public safety on my shoulders. There was no intent on my part. I meant nothing by it. How was I to know I’d impact generations of law enforcement from then forward. How was I to know?
