Glide launched three weeks ago, and the response has been overwhelming! We had no idea there would be so much enthusiasm from non-developers who want to create apps.

Here’s a summary of the features we’ve rolled out over the last three weeks based on your amazing feedback. If you like what we’re doing, the best thing you can do is create amazing apps and share them! Please share your amazing apps by clicking Share App in Glide. 🙏😃

Add Item

Enable Add Item on top-level pages for an Add Item flow that appends new rows to your Google Sheet.

Shortlinks

Give your Glide app a memorable shortlink like http://employees.glideapp.io to make it even easier to share! 😎💯

Full Search

Search now matches all property values visible on the detail page of the matched items. For example, searching for “human” in the Employees sample matches Toby, whose title is “Human Resources”:

Drop images into apps

It used to be tricky to add images to Glide apps. Now it literally could not be simpler:

Switch component

Add a switch that toggles TRUE/FALSE values in your sheet:

Copy our event attendee check-in sample to try it!

Video Component

The new Video component works with direct video file links, and supports YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, SoundCloud, Streamable, Vimeo, Wistia, Mixcloud, and DailyMotion videos.

Improved Notes

Notes component is now a bit prettier and you can change or remove its title.

Gallery view

A grid optimized for displaying photos.

Inline lists can now use any layout

You can have a gallery, tiles, columns, or even a calendar on any page. Varying the layout of pages in your app makes it more engaging.

Miscellaneous polish and improvements

  • Improved support for http images
  • Fewer false-positive “Glide is open in another tab” warnings
  • Improved handling of hyperlinks in iOS 12.2 beta
  • Reversible calendar
  • Empty view for calendar when there are no events to display
  • Fixed a crash caused by large images in lists
  • Improved image caching
  • Chat scrolls to bottom by default
  • Updated tab bar icon set with over 10 new icons
  • Press the system Back button to navigate back in Android
  • Edge-swipe takes you back on iOS
