The Oscar’s 2016 $200K+ Swag Bag: Gift ideas for him or her

That’s right, you read it correctly. The Oscar’s 2016 (unofficial) swag bag this year is valued at over TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS.

Now before you raise your pitchforks and start protesting, apparently the swag bag is contracted out to a third party company and is actually not endorsed by the Academy — that being said, somebody has to foot the bill. Also, something you might not realize is that all the items in the swag bag are considered taxable. Seeing as most actors are in the top 1%, that could mean a pretty hefty bill once April rolls around.

Feel better now? Yea, neither do we.

Side note: We like to think this confirms that that the stars may actually belike the rest of us and the Oscar’s is basically their equivalent to Oprah’s Favorite Things Giveaway Episode. Death and taxes. Can’t avoid ’em.

The one good thing to come out of this are some neat gift ideas that anyone can appreciate (full swag list below). Even better, we’ve broken our faves down into a list by budget, because shockingly enough not every item in the Oscar’s Swag Bag will break the bank…but a few of them may.

Budget Friendly Gift Options

Chocolatines Drunken Fig Cake Bites ($35)

As far as gifts go, a gift from a premium chocolatier for under $50 ain’t so bad.

Memobottles ($47)

Instead of the usual cylindrical shape, these slim, premium, reusable water bottles are designed to fit in your bag and pocket.

Signature Vodka ($70) or El Silencio Mezcal ($75)

Either one of these options are great for anyone who enjoys a little finer spirit.

Rouge Maple culinary products ($99)

If you haven’t heard of them, Rouge is a Canadian based company with a slew of culinary products. They are especially known for their maple syrup — yum.

Gifts that may require you to dig a little deeper in your wallet

Sedona Lace makeup brush set ($110)

Sedona Lace is known for their high quality makeup brushes at an affordable price!

Tribute video services ($125)

Now this is a gift that we might all want to use at one point or another. Tribute is a video company that helps you easily create video tributes to someone in your life.

Healing Saint Luminosity skin serum and hair follicle stimulant ($193)

It might seem a little pricey to some for skin care, but think of it this way…it’s much cheaper than botox or a hair transplant. :)

Joseph’s Toiletries toilet paper ($275)

We’re not recommending this we just have no words. Also, we want to make sure you remember how the other half lives, and no, I guess it’s not like the rest of us.

Go big or go home gifts

3-night stay at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo in Lake Como, Italy ($5,000)

A great getaway idea for you and your honey or with your friends, and hey, you may even get a chance to rub shoulders with George and Amal. We think that might be worth the money alone.

Pu-erh Tea Nourishing Cream and Pu-erh Tea Cleansing Bar ($31,200)

Now, just to clarify, this is for a lifetime supply of both. The rest of us can get a bottle of each for under $50.

A year’s worth of Audi car rentals from Silvercar ($45,000)

Now this is what you call a gift, however, we’d recommend you save this for a major occasion…or not. :)

There you have it, our favorites. For the full list of items in the Oscar’s 2016 Swag Bag, see below!
