James Brown once sang that this is a man’s world. Now, even though we don’t agree (it is 2016 after all), at some point or another you’re going to have to buy a gift for a man in your life. Sometimes this can be super easy (yay case of beer!) but sometimes you wanna give him something that goes that extra step. Maybe even gets him to shed a tear of joy. How about doing it in under $30?

Timex Weekender Watch — $29.49

You know James Brown never missed a beat. Whether it’s for work, the game, or meeting that buddy for drinks, a man should always be on time. The Timex Weekender is a classic-looking, affordable option for a watch that won’t ever really go out of style that’s basic enough for any man. If he isn’t too fussy about his wrist fashion, it’s utilitarian enough to please most every man, but if he does fuss, the strap can be switched out for a variety of colors and styles.

Carry-on cocktail kit — $24

If your male giftee is a drinker and a traveler, this one is sure to please. Everything you need to make him scream out “I feel good!” at 30,000 feet. Just add the booze of your choice and watch your neighbor in 23C get drunk with jealousy.

Fisher Space Bullet Pen — $16

We know we know, no one really writes anything down anymore. But there are those times when the notes app on your iphone just won’t cut it. And for that we have the most super bad pen there is. This pen not only writes the normal way but even can be used upside down! It’s so cool that the astronauts use it. How funky is that?

The Art of Manliness book — $12

In a world like today, “macho and manly are not synonymous”. Why not take a note from some of the more famous men throughout history? Taking lessons from classic gentlemen such as Benjamin Franklin and Theodore Roosevelt, this book is a collection of the most useful advice every man needs to know to live life to its full potential.

Pocket Bluetooth Speaker — $29.99

This one is sure to get him moving like Soul Brother Number One. A great gift that can go anywhere he goes whether it’s the car, the bathroom, the boardroom for a presentation, or just hanging out on Friday night. Funkiness not include.

Lifestraw Personal Water filter — $17.96

Put this in papa’s bag and he’ll be sure to be pleased. Whether he doesn’t like sharing the water from the cooler at work or is an outdoorsman with a thirst for pure water, this is a cheap, awesome way to keep your water clean at all times.

Standard Baseball cap — $24

When you’re living in America, you can’t beat this classic. Every guy needs a standard issue baseball cap. These comes in a variety of basic colors that will go with almost anything for those roll-outta-bed-and-get-some-coffee kind of days. If you know his favorite sports team or favorite band, go for a customizable option.

Binoculars (yes, binoculars) — $28.76

James Brown was anything but predictable. And this gift is the same way. While this might seem out of left field and unexpected, you never know when you might need to have a nice pair. Whether it’s spying on your neighbors or getting a good look at a sporting event, everyone man should have a go-to set of binoculars.

Harry’s Shave set — $25

The King of Funk took pride in his appearance. Every other man should too. Why not do it with a nice set from Harry’s? What’s awesome is the replacement blades are cheaper than what he’s probably already using.

A Magazine subscription for their interest of choice — $12–20

Some people just don’t feel the need to get on up and buy their own magazine subscription. But, when given as a gift, this is a fresh and thoughtful way to gift something they might enjoy without breaking the bank.

So there you have it. Some great gift ideas for the man in your life that come in under $30. Try ’em out! We’re sure they’ll make him scream out in happiness like the Godfather of Soul himself.
