Monthly Update — June 2022
Hey there, Glitchers! It’s June — which means half the year has passed, and we’re one step closer to beginning the execution of Phase III: Von Hayek. There’s a lot to discuss, so let‘s jump right into it.
May Recap
Technology infrastructure progress
The Glitch development team has been busy working on the product and core blockchain upgrades (testnet and mainnet) that are to come. View the latest roadmap breakdown updates completed on May 26. Currently, the team is prioritizing the following:
Testnet v.2.1: Functional and tech adjustments are underway. The team has finished the core development of the GRC-20 simple smart contract support (token). Testing is occurring internally, and we’re getting ready to have our developer community play around with some basic functionalities.
Mainnet v.1.1: The team will initially host 21 validators. Network tests are underway to test the stability capabilities by slowly shutting down one validator iteratively sequentially and restarting them. We expect the network to stop working when we reach six or seven nodes down (33% w/ configurable option). All 21 will be verifiable through the explorer.
Marketing & Community
The marketing team kicked off the month by launching the new Glitch Discord server and hosted the first voice AMA that dove deep into the many different channels and features users can explore, including developer webinars and “pop-in” chats that the team is considering hosting.
The results are in for the winners of the Discord invite competition. All winners have now been rewarded in GLCH for their efforts:
- 🥇 $400 Mikeee#9015
- 🥈 $300 PaulOMA#2201
- 🥉 $200 Jonsi#9958
- 4th $50: TakisBay | Legion Network ⚡️#2013
- 5th $50: HALAL | RCD#1163
On May 18, Diego, our CTO, and the Glitch Marketing Team answered community questions live on YouTube. To watch the session, click here, and to read the recap on Twitter, click here.
We recently onboarded Avi Misra, the newest addition to the marketing team. Avi will be responsible for completing marketing tasks, community engagement/outreach, and helping with the strategic planning.
Lastly, we provided our advocates access to a Google Drive that contains much information to help spread awareness more aggressively. On top of that, starting today, advocates can complete individual tasks and get rewarded for their quality contributions. We are excited to see the increase in engagements that will occur off the backs of these delivered items. A few spots have opened up, so we are considering onboarding more individuals. June Preview
Starting in early June, the team will begin the deployment of Von Hayek, marking the start of the transition from an internal to a public mainnet. The GLITCH Genesis block was mined earlier this year. It will be an extended release — meaning the team will launch everything in iterations throughout the month rather than all at once to ensure the network is secure. This announcement was shared here.
The roadmap breakdown is updated bi-weekly and will soon receive another update that will reflect the completion of the following deliverables:
- Testnet v.2.1: Browser-extension wallet and testnet upgrade (GRC-20 simple smart contract support [token]).
- Mainnet v.1.1: 21 validators internally, verifiable via the upgraded explorer.
This launch process allows the community to test and the team flexibility to resolve the unknown vulnerabilities before allowing users to spin up a mainnet node. We will be calling on you to help us test as much as possible — and we do plan on rolling out a bounty program in the future. Stay tuned!
“I’m feeling excited and nervous at the same time, Von Hayek is a critical phase in terms of delivery and network security so we need to make sure everything is functional throughout the iterative process so that we can allow the public to connect without major risk of exploits. Security is our number one priority.” — Diego E. Cruces, CTO, Glitch Finance
“I wanted to shout out the team for their hard work thus far. Very pleased with the progress we’ve made in such a short amount of time — let’s keep it going.” — Sean Ryan, CEO, Glitch Finance

Until next month,

About Glitch
GLITCH is a blockchain-agnostic super protocol explicitly designed for trustless money markets and decentralized financial applications (dApps). GLITCH solves the expensive fee structure of other blockchain platforms while simultaneously rewarding all ecosystem participants and guaranteeing low network fees through a unique revenue-sharing model. Glitch plans to incorporate token wrapping bridges, where dApps can run more efficiently, all in service of Glitch’s ultimate goal: to become a cornerstone of blockchain infrastructure.
