Country of Origin: Liberia

Organization Name: Cookshop Food Services (

Organization Website:

Brief Description: is an online food delivery service that lets users browse and order from the best restaurants in Monrovia via a mobile device or computer. As our nation’s first true dot-com company, we are currently the online destination for food in Liberia. Our goal is to expand to regional markets, becoming a leading online and e-commerce destination in West Africa.

What inspired you to start this organization?

Ultimately, we wanted to create a new Liberian story of innovation and entrepreneurship driven by local investment, and to set an example for other Liberian entrepreneurs in our generation to follow suit.

What is the next big step you hope to help your organization reach?

Our immediate plans are to expand to neighboring cities, and launch our grocery delivery service.

What has been your biggest obstacle as an entrepreneur?

We launched Cookshop in February 2014 just as the Ebola crisis was unfolding in the region, and by September 2014 we were forced to shut down due to safety concerns. Relaunching our business in July of 2015 required reinvestment and a leap of faith which has paid off immeasurably.

What advice would you give other emerging entrepreneurs?

The best advice we’ve gotten is to focus on providing the best customer service possible. We try to pay attention to our users by collecting feedback through multiple channels, and since we are a small business we can react quickly using that feedback to improve our service.
