Description of Organization: Behold.ai’s medical software helps radiologists make better clinical decisions. It does so by using deep learning technology, which combines computer vision (neural network architectures) with massive computing power to identify visual differences between healthy medical images and those with nodules, lesions and other abnormalities.
What inspired you to start this organization? In 2006, my mother was misdiagnosed with breast cancer. While she’s fortunately doing much better today, many aren’t as lucky. New advances in Artificial Intelligence over the past few years have made it possible to create scalable tools for radiologists to help create better patient outcomes
What is the next big step you hope to help your organization reach?We’re currently focused on our FDA clearance, and setting up hospital pilots to demonstrate the efficacy of our product.
What has been your biggest obstacle as an entrepreneur? While our team is very familiar with Lean Startup methodology, implementing the practices in the healthcare software space has been difficult. Iteration cycles of product development, based on customer feedback, are much tougher when there are regulatory and bureaucratic barriers.
What advice would you give other emerging entrepreneurs? A combination of Growth Mindset, and Grit, in addition to calculated risks can lead to success. A willingness to learn, plus perseverance, can go a long way.
