Brief Description of Organization: We are a startup creating social robot companions for kids. Our robot Emobie, short for “emotional being”, is an expressive furry robot that can accompany kids at home, school, and out in the community. Our goal is to provide affordable robot companions so that they can help all the kids that could benefit from having them in their lives.

What inspired you to start this organization? My background is in child therapy. I left my private practice to build technology solutions that would help children with mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma.

What is the next big step you hope to help your organization reach? Our next step is creating the next version of our prototype, gathering additional feedback from kids and parents, and getting ready for manufacturing.

What has been your biggest obstacle as an entrepreneur? My biggest obstacle thus far is figuring out what activities I should focus on to move the product and company forward and which ones are just distractions.

What advice would you give other emerging entrepreneurs? If you have an idea, there’s no way to know if it will work or not unless you give it a shot.
