Western civilisation unmasked (there was no ‘Enlightenment’)
When it is not philosophers, journalists, writers and poets but an ex -footballer turned sports commentator, Gary Lineker, who has the courage to speak out to condemn the West’s latest genocide, we must acknowledge the useless pretensions of Western academia and its journalists as merely poses that seek to invalidate the lived reality of we, the World Majority.
The poem below is translated into Urdu to honour my ancestors in Bharat-India, who experienced much unenlightened British trickery, along with military domination and economic exploitation, that lead to millions of people starving to death in several avoidable famines.
No reparations for that suffering across some 300 years, and trillions taken in looting, but the Nazis’ crimes in Germany over some 15 years must be compensated for, by endless Palestinian suffering over 77 years — and counting?
I’m seeking to publish some of my writings in Urdu so that I am not that colonised subject who has lost their mother tongue and been reduced to knowing only the oppressors’ language. But let’s remember, thankfully, that most of the world, is not mono-lingually English!
