In order to share content, what is more impressive than social media today??? Indeed, social media should be part of the strategies of the luxury brands and it is a shame that it is still not the case for many of them or at least they are not as engaged as they should be. On the other hand, some of them try to be present on these websites for different purposes (question/answers to customers, advertising through different means like content, posts, etc). By following these activities, along the way, some data have been established to calculate the rate of engagement of a company and its clients activity on a web page. Because the activity of a firm on social media is important, the response that the audience gives back is even more the focus of the companies. What is the utility of a post if no one give you a feedback whether it is positive or negative. As we know, social media also became a mean to spread information quickly around the world. These information are used to improve or destroy a company’s reputation much more quickly than before thus having an important weigh on the turnover of the brand. But then, we can ask ourselves what kind of comments are given to the posts, in what forms and are there different means to respond according to the social media that you are on???

To answer those question, we tried a little experiment. Indeed, we tried to post tone of the Pinterest board that was created previously (see The utility of pinterest boards) and we posted it with 5 different means (e-mail, Facebook, various forums) and presenting in what context it could be used for to see what would be the reaction of the audience. The results are interesting, on Facebook, the response are generally translated by the number of “likes” that are putted on the post. Indeed, putting a “like” is much easier than leaving a comment and sometimes a word can mean many things. (that is why Facebbok created this function). On the other hand, the lack of comments can also mean a lack of interest where a click is all that is needed to make the other “feel good” even if you don’t really mean it. That is why, Facebook is a mean efficient to spread information as the number of people on it are great but you also cannot be sure that the message that you wish to give is conveyed efficiently. On the other hand, e-mail can be a great source of feedback. Indeed, by putting the post and explaining specifically what I do it for, I was able to gather many responses with precise details on what they think of it. Finally, for the forums, I putted the post in forums where the subject is not even near the issue of the post. In response, I was able to have “funny” answers from other who are totally unknown to me. That is why, being present on many social media is good but be careful of trying to be overly present as it can gather the opposite result that you want to create.

In conclusion, creating content, posting it on different social media which gather different kind of responses which all have their good and bad side in order to have a good engagement rate with great feedback is the dream of every brand today. However, this task is easier said than done because there is many difficulties along the way which could lead to a mess. That’s why be extra careful on the way because being present on social media can be a good thing but sometimes…To answer those question, we tried a little experiment.
