New York, New York

Last week, I realized one of my dream: discover New York. As part of my Global Luxury Management program in NCSU we went to New York for a City Tour Study. I was not disappointed, this city is amazing and I can’t wait to go back for Thanksgiving with my family.

Brooklyn Bridge

Our New York city trip tour started on Tuesday, October 4 with Wealth-X a company that provides sales, marketing strategy and compliance solution to the luxury industry. During their presentation, the speakers provide us information about the global luxury industry but also about Yachting. After this presentation, we went to Kravet Design Studio. This company is the leader into the trade home furnishings industry. They work for clients such as Ralph Lauren and Kate Spade. This visit helped us discover more about the way to create new collection. To conclude this day, a student/ board networking social was organized at the STK Midtown to meet members of the GLM board and also some alumni.

Networking

Wednesday, October 5 was a big day for us. First, we went to Time Warner Media Lab. This company provides facilities to understand consumer behavior. It was the most interesting visit for me because I did not know this kind of industry. Secondly, we went to the Ritz-Carlton hotel to visit their best rooms and the La Prairie Spa. After this visit, we went back to the hotel to meet Isabelle Soscia for research methods. During the afternoon, a new networking was organized in the Boston Consulting Group. To end this day, Jim Brennan, the Partner and Managing Director of BCG, told us about his work and his company.

The Peninsula Hotel

On Thursday, our last day, we began the day by a presentation about Macy’s and what kind of job we can expect in this company. Then, we went to EvolveMKD a marketing and communication agency. It was a nice visit because most of the employees went to talk to us about what kind of job they do. EvolveMKD is a start-up created two years ago, but they already work for important clients in the luxury industry such as cosmetic and fashion brands. Last, but not least, we went to this amazing hotel: The Peninsula. The hotel is located on Fifth Avenue and it was really luxurious. I really enjoyed this visit. It was the perfect conclusion for the New York City Tour Trip.

See you soon New York City !
