“Welcome to New-York, it’s been waiting for me!”

Tuesday, 4th of October, 8 a.m.
On this bright and early morning, the entire GLM class left the good old town of Raleigh for the busy and beautiful New-York City. 
Once settled in our Midtown hotel, we headed to the Wealth-X offices to attend a presentation on the luxury trends and how the company is serving these trends.

After having enriched our knowledge and data about luxury, we went to Kravet Design Studio offices to a more hand-crafted and creative side of the luxury. The tour showed us the different processes of creating new patterns and motifs of the leader in to the trade home furnishings industry. This fifth generation family business distributes fabrics, furniture, wall coverings, trimmings, carpets and accessories… and represents designers all over the world!

The day ended with a social networking event where we could meet professional and board members and learn more about their experiences and firms around a good glass of wine ;)

Wednesday, 5th of October
We started the day by visiting the Time Warner Medialab. We understood better how to conduct consumer tests on new media releases (trailers, video game, …). 
We then headed to the Ritz-Carlton located in Downtown near Battery Park. We visited an amazing suite and a rooftop with a breathtaking view on the statue of Liberty.

The last visit of the day was at the Boston Consulting Group where we had the opportunity to meet the partner and managing director of the firm and network with some board members.

Thursday, 6th of October
We headed to the Macy’s offices on a sunny and beautiful day. A smiling and very happy lady presented us the opportunities and programs that we could apply for after the GLM program, with the spark of Macy’s magic.

Two ladies that we met during the networking event invited the GLM class to visit their PR office, EvolveMKD. It was an interesting and dynamic presentation about their work, how to associate the products and social media for advertising.

Finally, and for me it was my favorite visit of the trip, we were invited to visit the Peninsula Hotel on the 5th Avenue. The head of Marketing gave us her vision on the 3 sectors of luxury reunited in one: the Peninsula Hotel experience. We then had the chance to visit a very expensive and amazing suite and all the amenities of the hotel: from the sunny and cosy rooftop to the Clement restaurant, through the spa and fitness rooms.
