When engagement is close to 0.

Being PRESENT on social media is one thing. Being ACTIVE on social media is another thing.
Let me introduce you the most difficult part: RECEIVING ENGAGEMENT from people.
With my social media class, we had one mission: post contents on different social media and measure engagement from people.
My results? Close to zero on all my publications. I failed… Or rather than I failed, I think that people of my network failed understanding the process and the purpose of my publications. It might be the first and main reason by the way…

How did it go?
I chose to share my Pinterest board about Cartier Winter Tale on Facebook, Google +, LinkedIn, Twitter and made an email list to send it to people interested in luxury.

LinkedIn Publication

First, LinkedIn.
LinkedIn is not the most engaging social media. People are just adjusting their profile and care most about companies’ publications. But even for them, liking posts is not a reflex for Internet users. Apart from 34 views, I didn’t get anything, no likes, no shares…
My only defense: it was my first publication on LinkedIn.

Google + Publication

Second, Google +.
Even better. Absolutely NOTHING! No +1, no comments, no shares… Again a big success! The explanation ? Google + is not popular at all comparing to the other social media ! And I create an account 2 days ago to post my article, which means no relations or friends yet. Then how could people even see it? It explains a lot of things…

Twitter Publication

Third, Twitter.
Ums… Do we really need to talk about this one …?
My bad for this one. I created an account 3 years ago and have never been on it. N.E.V.E.R. I admit for Twitter that I failed because of my lack of engagement and not because people’s lack of engagement towards my tweets.

Fourth, Email List.
If I’m lucky my email didn’t fall into the spam emails. If I’m more than lucky, people actually opened it and didn’t put it to the trash!!!! Let’s hope.

Facebook Publication

Well let’s finish with THE success of that mission (comparing to the others), Facebook.
4 likes and 1 share!!! (Thank you Mr. Andrews)
The fact that Facebook got more success is easily understandable: 1st social media in the world, people are very active, post things every day, I have more relations and it became a reflex for Internet users! No real worth.

John Andrews’ Publication

Let’s just say that this time was just training and hope that next time will be the lucky one!
