Health Literacy
According to the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), the most frequent death and disability causes in Moldova in 2017 were considered to be: ischemic and hypertensive heart diseases, stroke, cirrhosis, neonatal disorders, and diabetes.
The underlying risk factors of these chronic diseases are unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, tobacco use, and harmful use of alcohol. All of them lead to intermediate-risk factors like raised blood pressure, raised blood glucose, abnormal blood lipids, overweight, and finally to the diseases enumerated above.
Starting the “Health Literacy” Project, Chisinau Hub aims to increase people’s awareness about their health and about how the well-being of a single person can impact the whole society.
Global Shapers Chisinau Hub will invite highly-qualified doctors to talk about the most important problems and best solutions to prevent different diseases, to increase the health literacy of the community, and to empower the doctor-patients communication.
Moreover, people will benefit from instructions given on how to act correctly in emergent situations along with discovering useful advice for improving their health condition.
