Social Media Marketing is booming in the Business World, almost 85% of SMEs are using Social Media Platforms for their Businesses.

Personally, I have seen a lot of Home-Based Businesses growing organically using Social Media platforms.

But, Social media works to achieve the desired goal only if it’s used rightly.

Here are the few basic steps, which every business should follow who are stepping into the world of “Social Media Marketing”

Set Specific Goals

Setting goals gives you long-term vision. Know & Understand why do you want to be on social media answers can be for Brand Awareness, To Drive Sales, To Drive Traffic to your Website, etc.

Having a goal will help you plan other things efficiently like, Media Plan, Ads, Ad Budget, Marketing budget, Content ideas, etc.

Set the Correct Ad Type

Once you have a goal, what you want from social media you’ll be easily able to figure out on selecting the Ad Type & Ad Content.

If you’re planning to run ads on Facebook, I’ll recommend you to work from the backend. Don’t boost posts.

On Facebook, there are various Ads to name a few, Lead Generation, Website Traffic, Carousel Ads, Conversion Ads, Page Likes, Etc

Instagram will offer you 3 options, i.e., Redirect to Website, Send Message & Visit Profile.

Do you want me to write a blog on different types of Social Media Ads?

Have Variations in Ads Formats

Start by creating at least 3–4 different Ad Copies (this is what I do), and analyze which one is getting the best response.

Try presenting your Ad as per the trend.

As of now, Catalogue Ads are the new trend for E-Commerce Ads. Keep observing, and try to integrate trends with your brand.

Optimise Your Target Audience

Knowing & Understanding the Audience is a Trial & Error Process. Make sure you choose a segmented audience. It will help you analyse your Ad better.

Optimising your Audience will help you in the creation of future Ads for better Results.

Use Right Channel for Marketing

Once you know your Marketing Goals & Target Audience Choosing your Medium of the delivery .i.e.Marketing Channel becomes easy.

You don’t need to advertise on every available platform.

Monitor Ads

Create different Ad copies & monitor what kind of ad is working best for you, you can opt for UTM to monitor each ad’s performance & analyze what’s working best for you.

As we all know social media is a fast-changing world, trends keep on changing.

For instance, when a year back I use to run Facebook Ads for Ecommerce, Carousel ads were on a boom & now Catalogue Ads are the new trend.

Stay updated, keep observing& apply your learnings.

Use the Facebook Pixel

Facebook’s Pixel Code helps to collect data that helps you track conversions from Facebook ads. It helps you optimize & plan ads in the future, build targeted audiences for future ads, and remarket to people who have already taken some kind of action on your website.

Facebook Pixel Code plays an important role in Remarketing.

Be creative

Content is the king, But Creativity is the Emperor.

Keep your Ad Copy simple yet Creative, remember Amul Graphics? Or Zomato’s Ads?

They’re simple yet attractive.

Keep the text minimal & use elements properly. Don’t clutter the creative with too much content.

Try to use only less Text & Images.

Remarketing

Businesses are not only run on New Patrons but by retaining old patrons, your marketing plan should not only be focussed on targeting new consumers but also on retaining the existing patrons.

Facebook Pixel & Other Data (Offline/ Online Data) will play an important role in Remarketing.

Consistency

Consistency is the key, it helps to keep your Business in the eyes of your consumers (Potential & Existing Ones), somewhere it also impacts the buying or CTA decision too.

If your plan is to completely rely only on Paid Ads then you need to run continuous ads with required changes frequently.

In Case, if your plan is to balance between Paid & Organic Marketing then you need to focus on providing content consistently to make an impact.

Conclusion:

I often hear people saying, “Social media marketing is dead”. Honestly,it is not dead. But, it’s just not as easy as it looks like.

You need to consider several factors for success with Social Media.

It all starts with setting a goal, then choosing the right ad type and ad format. You also need to know your Target Audience, Choose the right social media platform, monitor the ads and add a pinch of creativity to make social media work for your business.

Another important factor in Social Media Marketing is, “Copywriting”, we will talk it in the next blog.
