I got my job through Linkedin, And I can help you find your Next job through Linkedin

Linkedin is the most amazing platform to find jobs, connect with industry experts, stay updated with what’s new in Industry and a lot more.

Finding the right job through linkedin is not a magical process and it takes time and efforts to help you land the best opportunities for yourself.

First Step is to Complete your Linkedin Profile:

A complete linkedin profile is the first sign of presenting yourself as a sincere Professional. when an HR comes across so many profiles, this will help you stand out as a more dedicated resource. Someone who takes their professional life seriously.

There are various parts of your Linkedin Profile that you need to pay attention to.

It is indeed the most important part of your linkedin profile. Often you have seen people using their job title in the tagline. Is that helpful? I don’t think so.

What would you like more?

  • Fresher
  • looking for job
  • blank
  • A Marketing Professional looking for Opportunities in Startups and SMEs as Digital Brand Specialist

You see the difference a Tagline can create. Your tagline should reflect what you can do for them, it makes their task easier.

Here’s how my Tagline looks like

Some profile taglines I personally like very much

An effective tagline can help catch the eye sooner than you imagine. How? We will get to it a little later

2. Profile Photo

Your profile photo adds a face to your profile. People visiting your profile or who comes across your profile through comments and tags.

It makes easier to understand who they are communicating with. It is important that your profile pic shows a Clear, professional headshot and not a random selfie or a pic from distance. Your face should be clearly visible in the Circular area.

Here are some examples:

3. Cover Image:

The cover image is an amazing real estate to showcase yourself. You can use this space to showcase your brand, experience, event or your motto of life

I use myself to represent what I do.

Here are a few examples you can take inspiration from

4. Profile Summary

Profile summary is your playground to share your story. Often people do not use this space effectively, they type in a lot of stuff already mentioned in their work experience. Rather use this space to represent what a person you are. This helps the visitor(Hr/Employers) to understand you as a person.

here are a few examples you can refer to:

5. Media/Links

Use this space to showcase your research papers, website, blogs, resume etc. Including links shows nice little thumbnails like this below and help your visitor click

6. Experience

Include all the jobs, internships, volunteering experiences you have had so far and nicely describe what learnings you got from the experience in the job description section

Here’s an example:

I will keep adding more to the list as a complete guideline, for now, this would be pretty much helpful

Second Step is to let your presence known on linkedin:

Now a lot of people find it very difficult to post useful content on linkedin fearing it won’t be worth it and as a result, they just keep browsing and do nothing.

You shouldn’t do that, If you cannot produce your content, you can always engage with the post from others. Engage with the posts from industry leaders, your potential employers and seniors in the industry.

Remember I said Tagline is the Most important part of your profile. Here is how it shows it’s magical powers.

Every time you leave a comment on anyone posts it shows your name along with tagline. An appealing tagline will make people click.

It is very important that your comments make sense. yes, I agree, nice share won’t get any attention. If you want people to see your comment and tagline, as a result, click on your profile, make sure you write detailed comments

Here’s an example of a comment I recently made:

You noticed because I wrote a detailed comment, people liked the comment and it got in the eyes of many others who then visited my profile

Third Step is to reach out to people:

I would not suggest directly spamming people with a request for a job, trust me people don’t like it very much. Also, it makes you look desperate.

Interact with posts-> establish connection-> send a connection request with a customised message-> have a conversation about what they do and how they do it, or discuss their recent post and then when they ask about yourself, mention you are looking for a job.

As I mentioned earlier, this takes time and there is a lot more to cover which I will keep editing over time.
