After spending her childhood in an orphanage, Hasmik was bound for a large and abusive psychiatric institution in Armenia. Until Friends of Warm Hearth came along.

Friends of Warm Hearth provides long-term care to Armenian orphans with disabilities over the age of 18. The nonprofit welcomed Hasmik into a group home in 2008. Hasmik has called it home ever since.

Hasmik said of her life today:

“I feel good. I love everyone. I weave carpets and rugs. I do embroidery. I go into the community.”

Learn more about how Friends of Warm Hearth offers adults with disabilities in Armenia an alternative to institutionalization.
