How it all began
Over the past few years, I’d really enjoyed interviewing great women leaders, investors and female entrepreneurs for my Trailblazing Womencolumn on Huffpost (now on our Medium Trailblazing Women blog), and chatting to great investors and funded women for exclusive content on our Global Invest Her Platform (to help more female founders learn about and get ready for funding).
It was also amazing to be a guest on several podcasts and I really enjoyed the more intimate feel to our conversations. I really wanted to be able to have a weekly chat with female founders, investors, funding ecosystem players and everyone who would listen, about my mission to help change the funding world for the better for women entrepreneurs, so that more of us get funded and more innovative solutions can get unleashed globally.
So in October 2019 I took the plunge and started the InvestHer Podcast.
What Makes this Show Different?
This show is not only about demystifying funding, it’s also about understanding what are the key market dynamics and realities that impact HOW investors make decisions on who to fund, the existing biases and paradigms that need changing, and how we can ALL benefit from the biggest untapped resource to boost the global economy — women entrepreneurs.
I created Global Invest Her and the InvestHer Academy, to educate and inspire more women entrepreneurs about funding, to help close the $1.7 Trillion Funding Gap. I speak internationally at tech and business conferences to help change the hearts and minds of both investors and women entrepreneurs about funding female founders, and coach women-led businesses and helps corporates partner with and serve women entrepreneurs. Putting the Fun into Funding!
Looking for funding is not a fun exercise and takes an entrepreneur and their team away from key business activities for many months while they are on the fundraising trail. For women entrepreneurs, looking for funding is simply harder because of many industry, cultural and mental barriers, and as a result, we only access 2.3% of total VC capital worldwide!
Yes, we know the statistics and if you’ve come looking for a moan fest, you won’t find it here! Instead, you’ll hear upbeat, inspiring conversations with investors, female founders who raised money, ecosystem players and influencers, who like us, believe that women entrepreneurs are the biggest untapped resource to re-ignite the global economy, and want to help put more fun into funding!
