We hope you had a great time during the holidays but even more than that we hope you’ll easily find the power to come back to your routine and start this year with enthusiasm and motivation. Well, sometimes this could be a little hard, even if you rest well and love your job. It is completely normal to catch this feeling after “the most wonderful time of the year” is gone, but here are some tips that might help.

Before starting the first work week …

Schedule a time for recovery

This is something you could do for any trip or holiday from now on. Every time when you are planning your vacation schedule at least one free day after your returning back home.

The only thing this will cost you is just a little discipline to plan it before your leaving. Let’s be realistic — it always seems like it is going to be easy to return to work after the holidays while we are excited and we are about to celebrate but it rarely is.

An empty fridge & food preparation

After a tiring day of travel, the best thing you could do to take care of yourself and your family is to prepare delicious and nutritious food. It is probably easier to order a pizza, but the process of cooking in your kitchen has a lot of benefits — it brings you back to your everyday life, gives the feeling of calmness and coziness and of course, it is healthier. Make time to buy some groceries that are easy to prepare such as pasta and pasta sauce.

Take time to appreciate what you’ve come home to

Remember that there are some perks to the end of any vacation. Perhaps you’ve come home to a beloved pet or good friend you’ve missed. Or you’ve regained some modicum of control over your life — even the joy of grabbing your morning coffee exactly as you like it.

After starting the first work week …

Shorten your first week back at work

If you missed the opportunity for a free day after the holidays, book your return for a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday so that your first week back in the office is an abbreviated one. All you have to do is get through a few days, and then you’ve got the weekend to recharge.

Set realistic expectations

When you return, don’t just leap back into the grind. The reality is that you’re not going to be your most productive self right away — and trying to, will only decrease the effects of your relaxing trip. Start off with small tasks, like checking email or completing easy wins, and take plenty of breaks. Slowly ease back into your usual sleeping, eating and exercise routines and recognize that this unease will eventually lift.

Plan Your Next Vacation

Get a trip on the books within the next six months so that when you’re feeling sad about the current vacation ending, you can cheer yourself up with the anticipation of another one that’s coming up soon.

We hope you all had an amazing holiday season and that you are on track to get back to the day to day life!
