Aeternity Starfleet vol. 2 — brilliant and innovative ideas
Last week, on Thursday, 11th of April, we were on the second demo day of the second Æternity Ventures Starfleet where the participants pitched their projects.
One of our partners, Homeport, which are building a decentralized marketplace for ground stations, took part in the accelerator and presented their project.
Æternity Ventures — the investment arm of æternity, is a decentralized incubator for Blockchain startups building applications on the æternity platform. Their acceleration program — Starfleet, aims to improve the chances of success of the projects by providing financial, technological, product, marketing, accounting, and legal support.
Last July, at the end of the first season of Starfleet, nine companies were chosen to receive in total $1.3M of funding. Тhree of the eight companies from the Starfleet 2018 batch were from Bulgaria — TraDEXsocial, weiDex and Noble Hire. Now only four were chosen for funding — the Bulgarian HomePort, the Croatian Cryptotask, the Maltese-Serbian Cryptic Legends and Abend from Germany.
All of the projects were great, but it was clear that some of them stood out in front of the others.

Homeport
The only Bulgarian startup in this batch was our partner — HomePort, a ground-station-as-a-service platform. Following the concept “More space for everyone”, Homeport focuses on the efficient collection of satellite data. We can represent the project as a decentralized marketplace for ground stations capacity. HomePort allows direct interactions between satellite operators and ground stations, removing intermediaries and thus decrease the tax fees they charge from satellite operators and stations. The project has already drawn interest from some satellite companies.
Now comes the interesting part. Soon we will begin developing the initial version of the project, which will be built on Æternity blockchain. Our team has already proved itself as one of the greatest blockchain development service providers in Bulgaria.
