Last week we held a webinar panel discussion with a business operations leader at Google and an advisor at Loyal VC about tips and insights about marketing during a crisis period. Following are key insights from the discussion.

  • A strong Google and general online presence will be especially important throughout and after the crisis period.
  • Demand for moving online more efficiently and effectively has skyrocketed, and progress in making the digital brand accessible to consumers has been accelerating.
  • Google My Business is a free Google service to optimise a company’s online presence — including Google Maps presence, delivery/takeout information being available and more.
  • Going online has key benefits in saving running business costs.
  • Customer engagement is more critical than ever — marketing should be more customer-centric, ask for direct feedback from customers, reply to reviews, ideally through a CRM software and strategy.
  • More time spent online but solid CRM strategies will enable businesses to retrieve more data on their target market.
  • Excessive planning when the future is uncertain can backfire, as you are more likely to be wrong. Instead, ask customers how they are doing now instead and react accordingly.
