Austin Armstrong, GlobeMed at Rhodes (2014)

Austin Armstrong graduated from Rhodes College in 2014 with a BA in History and worked as a medical scribe at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital before being accepted to University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he is currently a third-year medical student. He was a member of GlobeMed at Rhodes, working for his chapter’s 2012 GROW team at AMOS Health & Hope in Nicaragua and later serving as internal co-president. Since his undergraduate experiences with GlobeMed, Le Bonheur, and a local HIV/AIDS nonprofit in Memphis, his interests have centered on health disparities, specifically, public health issues surrounding women’s reproductive justice and LGBTQ healthcare access. After medical school he plans to pursue a residency in internal medicine.

Sarah Endres, GlobeMed at Rhodes (2011)

Sarah Endres served on the founding executive board of the GlobeMed at Rhodes College chapter and was GROW Coordinator with AMOS Health and Hope in Nicaragua after graduating in 2011. After graduation she worked at the GlobeMed Headquarters for two years as a program director, before transitioning to Global Health Corps. In her role as program coordinator role she supports all aspects of GHC’s fellowship program, from partner selection through fellow onboarding to supporting fellows’ leadership development over the course of their fellowship year. Sarah is also passionate about using design as a tool for social change, and has done pro-bono design work for Article 25, an advocacy organization fighting for health justice, and To Be Defined, a creative agency working to redefine masculinity. Sarah was a fellow with the Coaching Fellowship in 2017 and is currently a NXT-GEN Fellow for Moral Leadership.

Kristina Lai, GlobeMed at UCLA (2011)

Kristina Lai graduated from UCLA in 2011 with a BS in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics, and later received her MPH in Global Epidemiology from Emory University. She was a member of GlobeMed at UCLA’s inaugural GROW team and later served as external co-president. Kristina has since worked in a wide range of public health contexts both domestically and abroad, including clinical, nonprofit, and government settings. She has had the privilege of working directly with communities on infectious disease surveillance, research, monitoring and evaluation, community health assessments, and program development. She is currently an epidemiologist based in Atlanta, GA.
