Amongst the Pirates of the Brittany Coast

Back when piracy was a good career move

My 35 year old son, Josh, recently joined a band of pirates. To be more precise, he is an actor and recently joined the cast of a troupe that improvises pirate adventures on stage.

As a result, I’m perhaps more aware of pirates these days than I was before Josh’s career move. Thus, on my recent trip along the Brittany coast (with, of course, my beloved spouse Teresa), I noticed the pirates. Specifically, I noticed a candy shop in the Port of St. Malo that looked like this:

In the US, we tend to think of “Pirates of the Caribbean”, but the pirates of the Brittany coast were no joke, particularly for English…
