The last three years can be characterized as adventurous. My partner and I have been exploring the world to find a second place to call home. We love our home in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada but wanted to live somewhere different for three to six months.

We had explored various parts of Mexico and while we liked it, it just did not feel like a place we’d like to set up home.

So, this year, we decided to travel to various parts of Europe to see if anything resonated. We spent three months travelling through Italy, Greece, Spain and Portugal for a place to call home.

Southern Europe has a lot to offer; a rich culture, stunning beaches, delicious healthy cuisine, perfect weather and history.

We knew what we valued; a warm community, great infrastructure, healthy food, lots of sunshine, beautiful beaches and ease of travel.

At first, we thought it would be helpful to live in a Spanish-speaking country so we seriously thought about Spain. It ticked many of our boxes. We narrowed it down to Malaga.
