Utah holds a variety of landscapes, and I’d like to highlight a small town in Southern Utah that gives easy access to National Parks while keeping you slightly outside the normal tourist destinations for lower pricing and more available lodging.

It’s also a place I call home!

As you’re planning a visit to Utah, Cedar City may not have been at the top of your list… maybe you’ve never even heard of Cedar City! But Cedar City could be the perfect addition to your itinerary.

You’ll find friendly people, affordable accommodations, and lots to do! It has a small town feel, with a cute downtown Main Street perfect for wandering and window shopping.

History

Settlement in Cedar City began in 1851 with a small group of men from nearby Parowan that moved to the Cedar City area to begin a mining operation for iron ore. This first grouping of cottonwood log cabins has grown into the modern town of 30,000 residents that exists today.

One of the best things about Cedar City as a vacation destination is the quick access you’ll have to so many beautiful…
