This was our 4th weekend trip in the Cookie Jar Experiment.

See my first article attached at the end for background on how this started.

But, for the benefit of those unfamiliar, my wife and I put pieces of paper in a jar, pulled one out each month, and then went to that location. So far, we have visited Catalina Island, the oldest California Geocache, and Santa Barbara.

Today was one of my picks, the Point Fermin Lighthouse, located in San Pedro, California. One hundred twenty-five miles from the house, we decided to make this trip in a single day.

San Pedro is a coastal town sandwiched between Palos Verdes to the west, Long Beach to the east, and Compton to the North. The Point Fermin Lighthouse is located on the Point near the significant shipping channels to LA harbor and Long Beach shipping terminals and cruise ship terminals. A bustling place for container shipping coming in from around the world.

I have loved Lighthouses ever since I joined the Navy and lived right at the foot of the Cape Henry Lighthouse in Virginia Beach, Va. I was even a tour guide for that lighthouse on weekends. I studied Cape…
