Hi Globetrotters.

My name is… Andrew. But, depending on where I’m traveling, I might introduce myself as Andrés, Anwar, or Andrei, because there’s something about plain old Andrew that some folks find hard to pronounce. And there’s nothing that makes a cab driver in rural Mexico or a shop owner in the Middle East happier than introducing yourself in their language.

I love to travel because… Travel makes the world feel smaller, and it has opened my eyes to the fact that people everywhere are fundamentally pretty similar. From the farmers in rural Vietnam who — with their card games and simply prepared yet elaborate meals — reminded me a lot of my grandparents in rural Kentucky, to my Moroccan friend Mohamed whose favorite musician is Juice Wrld, I always manage to find things in common with people everywhere I go. And that helps me understand the world in ways I never would from just reading the news.

My number one travel activity is… Eating street food at every opportunity. From fresh strawberries and mangos in Colombia to full meals in Vietnam, I love it all, and my favorite places are usually local markets.
