Globetrotters Writer Spotlight — Lucy
Traveller. Writer. Yogi. Polyglot. I write to connect and celebrate important moments in life.
Hi Globetrotters. My name is…
Lucy. A solar panel on mountain tops.
I come from…
Shanghai. It is a grand city that comes with modernity, dynamics, and blended culture of east and west, It’s also a great starting point to explore China (a melting pot of cultures) and ease into travelling to the more remote areas.
I now live in Sydney, Australia. It has become my second home.
If you are looking for a more active experience, Australia is the place to be with its countless national parks, wild animals and beaches. Simply beautiful.
I work as a…
Project manager. I work with buying teams, fashion designers, and QAs to bring products to market.
I’m also a part-time studio yoga instructor.
I got my RYT 200 from Nosara, Costa Rica. I second what many globetrotters said about learning the local language will enrich the travel experience. I know some basic words but those who have better spoken better Spanish engaged with the locals better.
In my wildest dreams, I would love to be a tour guide. A tour guide lives and breathes the city’s heritage and shares the energy with the travellers.
I love to travel because…
My heart grows and feels content. My eyes see more possibilities. My mind settles for greater purposes in life.
I have travelled alone, sometimes with friends/families, and even strangers from time to time.
I believe in if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
The best place I’ve been is…
Sydney, Australia.
I decided to live here despite all the challenges that come with the move.
When I first visited and saw the ocean, I could not take my eyes off the horizon.
In my spare time, I like to…
Plan for my next travel. Play guitar. Practice Yoga…
A cheeky Marketing 4Ps joke, marketing writers/copywriters, what do you think about my Life 4Ps?
My top travel tip is…
Relax — If it’s too late to hit everything on agenda, let it be. The experience is far more important than having to get from A to B.
If I could live somewhere else, I’d live in…
Live on an island or a beach town.
My favourite way to travel is…
I will first seek advice from expats/locals.
Then List all the activities and landmarks.
Connect the dots together on Google Maps for the visuals.
Finally Sort out the admins — Visa, flights and accommodations
Three lessons I’ve learned from travelling are…
1. Never expect perfection — Something will go wrong. But don’t let the frustration stop you from having a good trip.
2. Cheaper accommodation and food options save money — In times that I’m more money conscious, I have more cash left for another travel.
3. Subconscious biased views exist — Travelling is one of the perfect ways to broaden views and see things from new perspectives. Observe and enjoy the experience.
My number one travel activity is…
Strolling the streets and trying local food. I love food!
Oh well, thanks for this self-promote prompt Warren Patterson.
