Can you spot the little pink sun glowing over the city? Photo by the author.

It’s day 5 of our Great Alaska Road Trip! If you haven’t caught up on day 4 of our adventure yet, you can read about it here.

We’re getting closer and closer to our destination, but also means we have to put in a few more days of intense driving first.

We woke up at the Walmart parking lot in Saskatoon, and started our just-over-5 hour drive up to Edmonton, Alberta. The time difference meant I was up at 6 am, bright-eyed and ready to go, while R grunted at me to let him stay in bed a bit longer.

I let him sleep for another 20 minutes while I drove.

We were losing phone service as we continued out of the city, so we pulled over in the next town, Langham, to get a few hours of work done.

As we filled up gas in the town, I looked up at the just-risen sun and noticed it was glowing bright pink. It looked so odd, but I thought nothing of it in the moment.
