Home exchange: a globetrotter’s BFF

When I talk with people about travel, the topic of where we stay is always at the forefront of conversations: hotels, resorts, cruise ships, hostels, Airbnbs, and the homes of friends or family members are not only unavoidable, but a crucial component of the globetrotting experience.

An option that I rarely, if ever, hear people talk about is that of home exchange, which is the straightforward practice that works pretty much exactly as the name implies: people trading domiciles and staying in each other’s homes, which is frequently simultaneous, but doesn’t necessarily…
