I Was a Flight Attendant and Now I’m Not: Travel After the Airline Industry
Globetrotters Monthly Challenge
Emily and Janet sink into the blue plastic seats beside me. My iPhone screen reads 0735. We have plenty of time.
Janet does not hesitate to forage through one of her many bags within bags and emerges with what she refers to as her first aid kit. How the lady manages so much stuff — I’ll never know. But if I ever need a Tums or a pencil, I have my gal.
This particular (and ironic) first aid kit consists of three red solo cups she snagged from a nearby Mo’s Cantina, mini bottles of Tito’s refilled from her handle of Vodka at home, a couple of clunky cans of V8, and voila she begins concocting liquid breakfast.
The girl is resourceful, I’ll give her that.
Janet is busy mixing and I notice Emily as she glances at the solo cups and then side-eyes me. We communicate non-verbally: ohh, Janet.
There is no one in the world like Janet.
You know who I’m talking about — the person you claim never ceases to surprise you, yet surprises you all the time. People like this exist. And I’m privy to know at least one, what a gift.
