Photo by my partner, (Mike) Stoner 916, that’s a beautiful sunset, isn’t it?

Ah, finally some peace after a wild week. We went from one travel center that we had been at for almost four months to another truck stop that only let us have two peaceful nights of sleep to a campground where we were actually welcome.

Affordable, safe, and quiet camping

We paid $225 for five nights to camp at a spot where we had a 30-amp plug-in, a water hookup, and a paved slab to park on. Our stay was guaranteed (June 26-July 1). We wanted to book for as long as we could so that we didn’t have to keep driving and moving around.

Our tiny home loved staying put in one place for a bit. It didn’t go without incident though. On our first day there, we had such an embarrassing accident spill out of our truck. Our oil pan wasn’t secured while we drove to the campground and still had some leftover oil that spilled out onto our spot.

Helping the nice girl and getting our energy source hooked up

We worked with the girl who had checked us in by helping put the rug underneath in case anything else wanted to spill out and also put soap and water on the stains that were left before we left along with scrubbing the liquids with a push broom to try and loosen them up. Thank goodness it rained on the day we left.

We didn’t have to back into our spot because we had a 25-foot extension cord with a 15-amp adapter. We just stretched the cord from the electric hookup to the back of our truck and plugged it into the wiring on the back of the truck. Boom!! Our power and energy source was set for the next five days.

Routine and going to enjoy the beach every day were the highlights

In those five days even though there weren’t any real activities to speak of on the campground, we still had a peaceful, fun time. Plus, I got a lot of rest and some meaningful writing in while we were there.

We also had gone to Walmart before we got there so we had enough food and supplies that we didn’t move the truck once in five days. We went down to the water every day as the rocky beach was only about a two to three-minute walk from our parking spot. It was also on our way to the bathroom and showers, which we appreciated.

And also just a short distance from the dumpsters as well. We had a little garbage to toss while we were there and made sure to take full advantage of having all of these facilities available to us with the price of the campground included. I would say that we took three showers there in the five days we were there. We also used the bathroom every single day.

Lake Erie, the star of the campground

We didn’t do much more than go out about once a day to enjoy the beach and massive Lake Erie, take a shower, go to the bathroom, and take out the trash. This for us was the fun of it all. We didn’t have to do more than that.

Photo was taken by my partner, Mike (Stoner 916) of the author, me.

The showers and the bathroom weren’t the cleanest, but still not bad for a minimal campground designed more for seasonal campers. Even though we had other campers throughout our stay parked next to us in the three other water/electricity spots, we didn’t hear any excessive noise or get into any uncomfortable situations the entire time we were there.

All of our neighbors, even the seasonal ones, were respectful and seemed to also enjoy themselves. I do kind of wish that we had gone out and made a campfire. We had free firewood that someone else had left behind for the next people and a fire pit just below our spot. We also had park-style benches next to our spot as well.

I think that with both my and Mike’s reclusive nature, we both felt more comfortable inside doing our own thing away from the rest of the campers. I got to write, take wonderful pictures, and enjoy the beautiful sunset with my partner. We really did need this and I’m excited to share many of our photos with you.

I’m including my Ko-Fi link here since I still haven’t decided to monetize as of yet. I’d really appreciate a small donation for a coffee, tea, or pop (soda) while we’re on the road. https://ko-fi.com/geraldsturgill

I hope you enjoy the pictures contained within the campground story. Until next time, Globetrotters!!
