A Market with No Booths — but What About Boots?

The first English market I saw was spread out in an expansive green meadow. The stallholders were set up to sell items from the boots of their cars — yes, it was a car boot sale! Apparently, these are quite common in England. Hoping to find a valuable antique being sold for next to nothing, I rummaged through the treasures but didn’t take anything away.

The poppy jug in the photo above I bought from a stall on the side of the road on the Ring of Kerry in Ireland.

A Footpath “Flea” Market in Nantes, France

I had never seen anything like this. There was no booth or boot or stall. All of the “treasures” were spread out along the footpath. It was like a whole kitchen was being sold off — pots and pans, jugs, bowls, cutlery, plates. Stacey bought a colendar that was in pretty good shape.
