What travel destination did you most obsess over during Covid? How many photos did you save so you could escape into them whenever you had a moment? For me, it was Prachuap Khiri Khan in southern Thailand. I knew as soon as the world opened up again I would be on the first plane east to go explore this sleepy little coastal town.

If you are looking for an authentic rickety train journey in South East Asia, this is it. The trip down from Bangkok is unhurried as the train traverses through empty farmland. Large craggy mountains are scattered across the landscape the further you travel. Visually this creates one of my favourite images of Thailand as the train slowly sways and ticks its way south, winding through the mountains against the glow of the setting sun.
